The mild climate in Georgia contributes to the ripening of a variety of fruits, both familiar to all apples, apricots, plums .., and exotic ones, like persimmons, figs, feijoa, kiwi ...

Georgia is one of the few countries where restaurants buy fresh vegetables and fruits from the local population, and not from supermarkets. And therefore, it is useful for a tourist to know that you can buy local gifts of nature from us not only in the season of their ripening, but from May to December - January.

In summer - berries, peaches, apples, pears, some grape varieties begin to ripen ... In autumn - melon, watermelons, figs, pomegranates, feijoa, a little later persimmons, oranges and tangerines right up to January.

May

In the west of Georgia, gardens begin to bloom in early March, in Tbilisi by early April, so the first fresh fruits appear on the Black Sea coast.

Arriving on vacation in May, you will find: strawberries, sweet cherries, cherries, medlars, mulberries (mulberries). Loquat is a golden small fruit whose flavor has been compared to a combination of apricot, apple and strawberry. Harvest sweet cherries are not stored for a long time and literally disappear from the markets in a month and a half.

June

In June, in the markets of Georgia, you can buy from the local population:

tutu, strawberries, sweet cherries, cherries, apples, pears, plums.

The season of strawberries and cherries is very short, so by mid-June even the latest varieties will no longer actively bear fruit.

The season of Georgian watermelons, melons, peaches, apricots and many other fruits is waiting for you.

October

Many people know that Georgian tangerines are much tastier, juicier in taste and are considered the earliest among all the others in the world, they are harvested here while they are still green, but at the same time, the taste of such fruits does not differ from yellow tangerines, they are exactly the same sweet and turn yellow within a week after harvest. In addition to tangerines, the following ripen at this time: persimmons, pomegranates, kiwi, quince, feijoa, lemon, orange.

November

In November, nothing fresh ripens, but it’s not worth getting upset, because in November you can take part in a master class in cooking the national delicacy - churchkhela (It is prepared from nuts strung on a string in grapes thickened with flour).
